A grassland gives you almost nothing to look at, which is exactly the point. There is grass, and above it there is sky, and the line where they meet does not demand your attention so much as wait for it. Photographers keep coming back because the emptiness is honest.
What you actually watch is the wind, though you never see it directly. It arrives as a pale wave moving across the blades, bending them and letting them stand, the way a hand smooths a bedsheet. On a still day the same field looks like it is holding its breath.
There is no obvious subject here, no peak or ruin to center the frame, and that turns out to be restful. On a screen it does the quiet work of a good margin: room for the eye to rest, a horizon that stays put while everything else on the desktop keeps moving.
