Warm Night Light Changes the Wallpaper You Chose
After sunset the screen shifts warm, and the picture you picked at noon is no longer quite the picture you get.
Most screens now drift warm after dark — Night Shift, Night Light, whatever the setting is called on your machine. The change comes on slowly enough that text never gives it away. Wallpapers give it away immediately, because a wallpaper is mostly colour and very little else to hold on to.
What the warm filter takes first is blue. A photograph built on cool tones — dusk over water, shade lying on snow, a grey street before rain — loses the thing that was holding it together, and what remains reads muddy rather than calm. Images that already lean warm come through intact: dry grass, low sun, lamplight on wood. They shift a little and stay themselves.
So if a wallpaper is going to sit behind your evening, choose it in the evening, with the filter running. Pictures that hold at noon and still hold at eleven are rarer than they sound, and the ones that manage it are usually the quiet ones — a narrow palette, no single colour doing all the work.
